About Firelock

We're betting on a better way to build software.

Firelock is a technology company based in Canton, Georgia. We build new tools for software made with AI, and Kin is our flagship.

Why Kin

It started with a question.

I started building Kin because I was paying for increasingly capable coding agents and still spending time helping them get oriented in the same codebase. Every session, the agent rebuilt its picture of the project from raw files.

Why isn't more of that understanding part of the repository itself?

Kin is my answer. It keeps track of how the code fits together, with those connections versioned as part of the repository. My bet is that as AI does more of the coding, the repository needs to carry more of the structure people and agents use to make and review changes.

I think it could become a foundation for how software gets built. I really want to change the world, and I think we can.

Kin and the building blocks under it are open source under Apache-2.0, so anyone can read the code, run it and build on it.

Troy Fortin Jr

Founder & CEO

Troy created Kin and leads product and engineering at Firelock. He has spent the last several years building machine learning and generative-AI systems. At The Home Depot he grew from software engineer to senior machine learning engineer, fine-tuning Gemini models and building natural-language reporting on large language models. He went on to serve as CTO of Yellow Creek Partners. Earlier, as head of IT at Alta Gracia Apparel, he built the company's ERP system from scratch.

Raeann Fortin

Co-owner, Growth

Raeann co-owns Firelock and leads growth. She spent more than three years in growth marketing at FinQuery (formerly LeaseQuery), most recently as Manager, Growth Marketing. Before that she was Director of Marketing at SimpleShowing, a real estate technology company, where she started out managing marketing and demand generation.
